Keeping you safe in your Rugby Club

Who am I?

Hi - I’m Bianca Cousin, the Club’s Safeguarding Officer.  I am pretty new as a player in the world of Rugby Union and captain the ladies Upper Eden ‘Eagles’ rugby team.  I am married to Ian (Cuz) and have three boys, who keep us very busy. Levi and Danté both play for the U13s at Upper Eden this season.  Elijah, our youngest, looks eager to follow in his brothers’ footsteps!

What do I do?

I try to make sure that everyone who is under 18 years old is safe at the club.  It doesn’t matter if you are playing, spectating or helping out.  This includes when we have gone to an away match or on tour.  I check all the coaches to make sure that they are OK to look after you.  I also try and get everyone to behave properly.

What should you do?

If you are worried about something, you could start by talking to your mum or dad, coach or team manager, or me.  I will then ask other people what has happened and try to make things better.  I will have to write it down so I can remember and I may need to talk to other people who really need to know.

What then?

If the problem is another child then we will speak to their mum or dad; if it’s someone who is in charge we will speak to the RFU at Twickenham to help; we can also speak to the police or social services if it’s really bad.  We then decide what needs to be done - we can tell them not to do it again or we can ask them to leave the club.

So, if you need to talk to me about something - you can come and see me, ring me at:
